July 2010- Looks like we are finally getting some summer weather! Although the spring rains
have turned our normally dry land into a very lush pasture...the goats are very happy. We've finished breeding for fall/winter
kids, all the does are enjoying the 20 acre pasture and the bucks are happily enjoying each others company on 3 acres. Our
new LGD Chloe has integrated herself into the herd and the goats don't seem to mind her much anymore.
We are enjoying a quiet month without any kidding or shows. We're planning on showing at the Spokane Interstate Fair
& OctoBoer in Walla Walla this fall.
June 2010- We had a very sad beginning to June. On Friday the 4th, a stray dog and her pups
were dumped on our road. The mother dog got in with our doe herd and mauled our Coaco daughter Caitlyn. I was able to chase
the dog away by shooting at her with the .22. But Caitlyn was mauled bad enough that Ryan put her down. As I walked the perimeter
fence, I found five pups. Animal control came out and documented the dog kill and took the pups. We've not seen the mother
dog again. We did however, make a trade with Percival Ranch for a 14 month old Anatolian Shepherd. Chloe is slowly becoming
a part of the herd. The goats still don't trust her, but they aren't running from her anymore. We've had llamas in with
the goats for over a year, but after this attack, we see the value of a guard that can attack the predator as well as guard
the herd.
May 2010- Pasture fencing is done! We've moved all of the does out onto pasture, by this
picture <-- you can see the does are enjoying their new home. We've also had the amazing opportunity to lease 10 does from
Leaning Tree Farm! We will be keeping at least one doe kid from each lease doe. All ten does are being bred for fall kids-
be sure to e-mail us to reserve Jr. Livestock wethers!
The Wild West Show went wonderfully, over 180 goats attended! Look for the 2nd Annual show to be held May 14 & 15,
2011!
April 2010- We are in the process of building fence around 20 acres of pasture/browse land.
Hoping to have the fence done before the end of May. The goal is to have all the does out on pasture throughout the summer.
Excited to bring home
Capriole's Crossfire the 23rd. We will be showing him at the Wild West show, along with a few of our does and this year's wethers.
March 2010- All the does have kidded. This season has given us 10 bucks and 5 does. We are
completely sold out. Coaco produced some nice color on our traditional does. Including a solid red buck (wether) out of our
very light colored 88% doe. Can't wait to start the show season at the Wild West Boer Goat Show, in Yakima.
